HISTORY
Galaxy Homes LLC began in 1994, but it was a dream that started well before then. Larry Birkel, owner of Galaxy Homes, has over 35 years of actual on-the-job construction experience, which led to him becoming an expert in the field of new construction." Through his extensive knowledge and experience, Larry created Galaxy Homes. Starting with just a few homes, and doing much of the work himself, Larry has built the company into the success it is today. Larry continues to be a “hands on” builder by committing to build a manageable number of homes each year.
LARRY BIRKEL
Larry Birkel, owner of Galaxy Homes LLC, has been in the home building industry since 1968. His background and experience of working in the field have given him a large advantage over many builders in the marketplace.
Larry earned his reputation for integrity and quality the hard way. He began in his teens as a cabinet builder, progressed to become a framing carpenter, then to owning his own framing company, managing multiple crews. He rose through the ranks as a home building superintendent, project manager, and then became the director of construction overseeing construction of hundreds of homes a year for one of the largest volume builders in the Omaha market.
In 1994, Larry left the corporate world behind to begin Galaxy Homes. Starting with a few spec homes, Larry has had an objective of controlled growth allowing him to remain a “hands-on builder”. Larry visits the homes under construction daily to insure his high quality standards are met. If a problem is found, he is not afraid to grab the right tools to take care of it himself. Our motto says it all, “At Galaxy Homes, Quality is our #1 plan.”

Do you build custom homes?
Absolutely. We build from a variety of home plans or will be happy to sit down together with you to create a truly customized plan for your needs. See home plans
Will you build on a lot I already own?
We will be happy to build on a lot that you currently own. Galaxy Homes can also build in most subdivisions in the Omaha area. See neighborhoods
How long will it take to build my home?
If you purchase one of the homes we have under construction, it could be as short as a few weeks. If we are starting your new home from ground up, we plan to finish your home within six months. See available homes.
What is the price per square foot of your homes?
Galaxy Homes is very competitive when it comes to pricing. However, to answer a question like that is difficult, if not impossible. There are just too many factors in building a new home to compare two homes using square foot price. For instance, quality of materials, types of foundations, the amount of standard features included, the style of home and the design of the home are just some of the factors that can affect price per square foot. Where do I start looking for a home?
The answer may sound odd but we think with such a big financial decision you should begin with a mortgage lender. Why do we say that? Your lender will let you know how much home you can realistically afford. We see people on a regular basis looking for homes that are not within their price range. This usually just extends the process and frustration of buying or building a home. By meeting the lender first, it will allow you to focus your time and energy on homes that will meet all of your needs and your “comfort level”.
